#Frihost Viewing logs for 6th April 2010

[00:09:25] * Ankhanu waves
[00:09:42] <Ankhanu> What phone/client are you using, mobileghost ?
[00:10:27] <mobileghost> Droid eris
[00:10:34] <Ankhanu> cool
[00:10:55] <mobileghost> Called andchat
[00:10:55] <Ankhanu> I kinda want to test a droid phone
[00:11:18] <Ankhanu> I use Colloquy on my iPhone to connect to Colloquy running at home on my Mac
[00:11:21] <Ankhanu> works nicely
[00:12:04] <Ankhanu> I can make it connect on its own, but logging in to something already connected is better for my use :)
[00:12:59] <Ankhanu> Cell phone IRC is super convenient :)
[05:27:44] <mobileghost> It sure is. Just a bitch to get them to connect sometimes. For me anyways
[05:28:31] <Ankhanu> yeah, definitely
[05:29:45] <Ankhanu> occasionally I'll get notices on my phone of activity happening here... but for whatever reason, the bouncer won't let me connect to my computer. I can connect to the ZNC server I have on my Linux system, or connect directly to IRC with the phone client, but can't connect to the Colloquy bouncer that sent the notification
[05:30:24] <Ankhanu> sometimes clears up with changing the port... sometimes doesn't... sometimes clears up by closing and reopening this client... sometimes doesn't :P
[05:53:32] <mobileghost> Lol yeah

[14:38:00] <Tobias> Oh, he's gone
[14:38:01] <Tobias> >_<
[14:38:08] <Tobias> Pity that <.<
[14:42:07] <Tobias> http://www.frihost.com/forums/vt-115028.html
[14:42:09] <Tobias> Burn o_o
[15:03:32] <Ankhanu> hehe
[15:14:40] <Rvec> I don't get what's so strange about that post?
[15:17:05] <Rvec> I meant the mail, not the post
[15:17:30] <Tobias> You don't use "Mr. Something" in a non-formal context, generally
[15:17:35] <Tobias> Or, titles
[15:17:41] <Tobias> You have "Tobias" or "Lastname"
[15:17:41] <Tobias> :p
[15:17:45] <Tobias> Not even lastname
[15:17:48] <Tobias> "Tobias Lastname"
[15:17:50] <Tobias> Otherwise it's overly formal
[15:17:58] <Tobias> Craigslist != formal
[15:19:50] <Rvec> so he wasn't very good at english?
[15:20:09] <Tobias> No, he was overformalizing :p
[15:20:22] <Tobias> Could be a variety of reasons for that
[15:20:52] <Tobias> If you wanted to be secretive about your identity, you'd probably do what they're doing
[15:21:00] <Tobias> Albeit possibly with a fake name
[15:21:48] <Rvec> Hey .. ,
[15:21:48] <Rvec> I want your printer, can you send it to me?
[15:21:48] <Rvec> regards,
[15:21:48] <Rvec> dave
[15:21:54] <Rvec> you mean like that?
[15:22:26] <Ankhanu> working retail, I have asked people their names and gotten "Mr. Name", or the worst, "Missus (man's name) (last name)"
[15:22:41] <Rvec> lol
[15:27:31] <Tobias> Normally you'd only address people such as teachers or people in significantly higher positions than you as "Mr."
[15:27:34] <Tobias> unless they were clients or something
[15:27:35] <Tobias> :p
[15:27:54] <Tobias> Or parents of your girlfriend and you were trying to make a sophisticated impression
[15:27:55] <Tobias> >_
[15:27:56] <Tobias> >_>
[15:28:37] <Ankhanu> hehe
[15:28:56] <Ankhanu> some people are formal like that with any stranger... but it's rare
[15:29:12] <Ankhanu> of course saying "this lovely item" regarding a printer is a flag
[15:29:20] <Ankhanu> particularly in concert with the formality
[15:29:29] <Tobias> true
[15:30:18] <Tobias> Maybe they're just an old, internet-barely-literate person
[15:30:19] <Tobias> :p
[15:40:16] <Rvec> more likely foreign
[15:40:35] <Rvec> probably from somewhere where it's normal to begin names with mr.
[15:41:35] <Rvec> and using the word lovely because he doesn't know any word that would better describe the printer
[15:43:37] <Tobias> I doubt that
[15:43:51] <Tobias> Foreign, possibly
[15:43:57] <Tobias> but the rest no :p
[15:44:24] * Tobias is playing The Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass for NDS on a DS Lite
[15:50:52] <Tobias> http://en.znc.in/wiki/Savebuff#Client_scripts_and_plugins
[15:50:58] <Tobias> That where you got your script, Rvec?
[15:53:41] <Rvec> looks like the same site, but I think it was something else
[15:53:47] <Rvec> not really sure
[15:54:25] <Rvec> ah yes it was the same
[16:39:30] Rvec (~yaron@vps248.directvps.nl) left #frihost

[18:28:45] <Ankhanu> perhaps
[21:51:50] <Tobias> http://www.frihost.com/forums/vp-952669.html#952669
[21:51:51] <Tobias> O_o
[21:51:58] <Tobias> I think he's mentally retarded O_o
[22:17:56] <Ankhanu> hehe
